Live bar on February 7 According to Liverpool's official website, youngster Elliott scored his first goal since his return in the FA Cup Liverpool's 3-1 win over Cardiff City, and he has just recovered from a five-month injury. After the game, he was interviewed by the club and talked about how he felt from injury and the help of his teammates.
You've gone through five months of recovery and contributed to a wonderful comeback, it's hard to imagine a better comeback scene...
It's the feeling of a dream come true. To be able to recover from a terrible injury in such a short period of time and get back on the pitch to score in front of the fans, my head is buzzing, and this feeling still haunts me.
How does it feel to score goals?
It happened so fast that I really didn't have time to think about it. I stopped the ball, turned around, hit the goal, and then the ball went in and I started celebrating. It all happened quickly, but I saw a little bit of a goal replay and I'm proud of it.
You must have thought a lot about comeback scenes over the past five months, what kind of experience was it like in the end?
To be honest, it's hard to describe. When I was injured I knew it was going to give me a long time off injury and to be able to play at Anfield was my dream as a kid. Having the chance to play and most importantly helping the team to victory, I miss everything I missed in those five months. When I came on as a substitute, my eye sockets were a little moist. It was a moment I will always remember, and a moment I can learn a lot from in the future. If I can overcome these, then I can overcome all the difficulties. I'm happy that now that I'm back, the injury is a thing of the past.
You must have been at home watching your teammates on TV many times and wanted to play with them, how much support have they given you?
Everyone on the team is like family. They've been by my side since I was hurt, and each of them would often send me messages to greet me about my situation. I'm really lucky to have a group of teammates like that, and also have the best facilities and therapists.
You made your debut with Luis Díaz in the same game and he made his debut with assists, which is a good start...
You see him playing in the game, he has extraordinary talent, he's a top player. We are all there to support him, whenever he needs us. It's an honour for me to be able to play with him because in my opinion he's a world-class player and playing at Liverpool he's only going to get better. To be able to play in front of the fans at Anfield, I am sure he will continue to show his ability.
What are your personal goals in the moment?
Today is a good day, and obviously it will take time to fully adapt. We have a lot of world-class players on our team and there's always competition within the team, so standing in a position is not an easy task. I'm here for Liverpool and I'll do everything I can to bring good performances to the team and the fans. My goal is there, and all I have to do is be firm in my direction and believe that I can do it.
