On the sixth day of the Chinese New Year, send poor ghosts

The sixth day of the first lunar month, also known as the Horse Day, on this day to send the poor, is a very characteristic Chinese folk custom of the year. There are also their own ways of sending poor people in various parts of China, which are different. But the meaning is basically the same, it is to send away the poor ghost. It reflects the traditional psychology of the Chinese people generally hoping to leave the old and welcome the new, send away the poverty and hardships of the old days, and welcome a better life in the new year.

The Tang Dynasty literary scholar Li Yong's "Records of the Golden Valley Garden" said: "Gao Yang's sons are thin and good at clothing. Man makes new clothes with them, that is, he is torn, and he wears them with fire, and the palace is called the poor son. The first moon obscures the day lane to die. Today's people are making obscenities and abandoning their ragged clothes, and they are worshipping in the alleys every day, and they are sending poor ghosts. According to Song Chen Yuanliang's "Chronicle of the Ages", quoted in the "Wenzong Beiqing": "When Gao Xin was in the palace, a son was born in the palace, and he did not wear his clothes, and the palace was called a poor son. Later, the first moon died obscurely, and was buried in the palace, which was said to be 'send the poor son today.' ”

According to Mr. Qian Zhongshu's "Pipe Cone Compilation", the folk of the Tang Dynasty on the mainland began to send "poor ghosts", but only called "ghosts" and not "gods". After the Ming and Qing dynasties, the "poor ghost" was revered as the "poor god". Whether it is God or a ghost, no one can say clearly.

According to the "Miscellaneous Records of the Years", the specific ritual of sending people to the poor is recorded: "On the day before the day of the day, people sweep up dung brooms, and when people have not done it, they cover them with seven pancakes and abandon them to send the poor." Another Song Dynasty Batam's "Sending poor ghosts" also mentioned: "At the end of the first month, there is a banana boat, two lamps, and more feasts inside." I advise Lang Jun's little lady to send poor ghosts in the air and send poor ghosts in the air. ”

After today, the Spring Festival holiday is officially over, and everyone should also pack up, collect their hearts, and prepare to return to work. Students can continue to enjoy the winter vacation, but the balance is not much.
