British man eats screws out of pizza and the store offers compensation for 40 pounds of cash being denied

A father in the United Kingdom found a black metal screw in the Italian sausage pizza he bought. Glenn Roberts, from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, was furious after finding the screws and he has turned down £40 in compensation. The father of two bought pizza for himself and his 15-year-old son from a store in Crosland Moore.

He chose to eat salami pizza, while his son Layton chose Margarita pizza, and just as he was about to eat a beer, he found something in a piece of pizza. Mr Roberts said: "I couldn't believe it. I heated two pizzas in the oven, and I just ate the second or third slice and felt something in my mouth. I thought it was my teeth or something, but then a screw was pulled out, and I speculated that it must have fallen out of one of their ovens. My biggest complaint was the attitude of the store, and although no one was hurt when I contacted the complaint, the situation was quite serious. Can you imagine if a toddler ate it and it got stuck in their throats? They gave me £40 as compensation but that wasn't the point. I just don't think they're taking this seriously enough and haven't done a proper investigation." He said the store manager intended to give him cash and asked if he could return the screws to them. But Mr Roberts said he did not believe they would properly investigate the incident.

Mr Roberts said: "They just don't seem to care. They just seemed interested in getting that screw back so they could cover their tracks. I would like to receive a proper apology and a guarantee that a full investigation will be carried out into its source. There will really be very serious consequences." A spokesperson for the store said: "We work closely with our suppliers to ensure the highest quality of food products through rigorous inspections, including metal detectors. We take any issues raised very seriously, we are investigating and apologizing to our customers. Disclaimer: This article is reproduced for the purpose of transmitting more information.
