The era of Washington Rugby is over!
On Wednesday, Us time, Washington officially announced that the new team name was decided to be Commanders, along with the new team logo and new jersey.
Team president Jason Wright and head coach Ron Rivera have both previously said the team would try to incorporate the military component into the new name, given its ties to the capital. Commander is one of the most commonly used ranks.
The Washington Commander unveiled three new jerseys on Wednesday: pure white with dark red numerals and sleeves, plus black stripes with white and dark red edges; dark red jerseys with gold numerals and sleeves, plus white gold stripes. The pure black jersey is paired with gold numerals and dark red stripes on the sides, with three dark red stars on a gold background.
Among them, the team's number one receiver Terry McLaughan appeared in a dark red jersey.
Star passer Chase Young wears a white jersey.
Defensive leader Jonathan Allen wore the team's black jersey for filming.
Paired with a black jersey will be a black helmet with gold numerals on the sides and a gold "W" on the front. The other two jerseys will be paired with dark red helmets with a golden "W" on the sides and a golden stripe running through the middle.
