- Digital Recreate Cave Dreams -

On Wenchang Street in Yuyuan Mall, there is a mysterious door "hidden" between the shops, and when the door is pushed open, it is a staircase that is dotted with colorful lights and spirals upwards, like a time passage to the mysterious world. At the other end of the passage is the Dunhuang Dreamland built with VR high technology. "Dunhuang Secret Land - Song Chao VR Interactive Exhibition" carefully selected 6 of the most representative art treasure caves from 843 grottoes in Dunhuang for VR technology creation: 12 caves of the late Tang Dynasty, 103 caves of the Sheng Tang Dynasty, 285 caves of the Western Wei Dynasty, 322 caves of the early Tang Dynasty, 61 caves of the middle of the tenth century, and 390 caves of the late Sui Dynasty. Taking Cave 322 as an example, the murals are rich in color, the statues are basically intact, the statues are realistic and unique, and many flying images are painted in the caves, some of which are singing and dancing, and some are playing musical instruments, as if swimming in the sky, which is a fine painting of the Tang Dynasty.

Different from the reproduction concept of the "Digital Dunhuang" project of the Dunhuang Research Institute, elements such as the flying sky and the nine-colored deer that Dunhuang is known for, as well as the Dunhuang documents known as the "Dunhuang Scripture Scrolls", will be newly presented through new technologies. After putting on the VR goggles, visitors will see that the murals and domes are decorated with many yellow marker dots. The micro-infrared sensor on the VR goggles is used to capture the user's pupil movement, and when the visitor looks at the marked point, the flying Buddha statues and landscape birds and beasts on the stone wall will slowly fly towards the visitor, and finally land in front of the visitor. Delicate lotus flowers also bloom on the stone walls, reflecting the vitality of the "cave".

In the entire exhibition area on the second floor, a long corridor woven by light and shadow is designed, and a dynamic giant mural with a length of 21 meters and a width of 2.36 meters is produced through image fusion technology. Four representative mural style drawings such as deer king bunsheng figure, green landscape, moi ornament, and fourteen lok ju buddha statues jumped on the wall, and high-tech made Dunhuang's most classic "nine-colored deer" and other IP jump on the wall, as if to jump out of the wall.

The creative team of this exhibition is a cultural and creative team called "Song Chao", which is composed of a group of authentic "national style youth". Since June 2019, the stage play "Huating Singing Song" performed in the Sea Pear Garden in Yuyuan Garden is also produced by the creative team. "Our original intention in designing this exhibition is to let every visitor who walks into the Dunhuang Secret Realm Exhibition have a kind of empathy with the ancients of a thousand years ago after putting on VR glasses." Wang Kevin, the head of the "Song Chao" team, said.

- "On the Clouds" conveys the spirit of the East -

At the flagship store of Duoyun Academy on the 52nd floor of Shanghai Center, we encountered the "West Meets Zhimei and Dunhuang on the Clouds" public welfare exhibition in the highest cultural space, which aims to protect and inherit Dunhuang culture and pass on the precious oriental spirit through digital means such as new media.

The first season of the "West Meets Zhimei Yunshang Dunhuang" public welfare project "Mogao Xiaguang" tells the story of the entire team stationed at the foot of Dunhuang Mingsha Mountain, using the soil of the Daquan River in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes and the sand of Mingsha Mountain, according to the ancient method of three sands, six soils and one ash, using the exact same way as the Wall of Dunhuang Murals to make a piece of mud plate, using the same mineral pigments and painting styles consistent with the Tang Dynasty murals to make the Dunhuang murals move. It lasted 9 months, 270 days and nights, and 30 painters used their ingenuity to draw 2,000 clay plates, condensing into a 420-second "Mogao Xiaguang".

The second season of "Gentle Backbone" went into the restorers and copyists of the Dunhuang Research Institute. They guard the cave with vivid copying and restoration, they are focused, pure, racing against time, as much protection as possible, more research, more recording of Dunhuang art, before the relentless consumption of time to crack the ancient people through murals, sculptures expressed all kinds of meanings; and from another point of view, their work has become a recorder of time, giving the masterpieces of the ancients a new era of artistic conception. The three exquisite neon dresses and video materials created by the guardians of Dunhuang presented in this exhibition more intuitively convey the spirit of Dunhuang and the beauty of Dunhuang to more people.

The third season of "Spirit of Yulin" focuses on Yulin Cave and the narrator. The narrator vividly "simultaneously interprets" and recounts the three-dimensional works in contemporary language, speaking for time. Through the graphic designer, the exhibition "translates" the narrator's narration again, and "rubbing" the picture from the narrator's mouth into this group of "mobile Yulin Caves" that you can carry with you.

In the exhibition, the audience can see a series of complementary original derivatives inspired by Dunhuang and based on "Mo Gao Xiaguang", hoping to better integrate Dunhuang and modern design in this way, be understood and loved by more people, and the income from the sale of all original derivatives will be used for Dunhuang conservation public welfare projects.

- Pen-end interpretation of the poetry of the heart -

Also in the Shanghai Tower, the 37th floor treasure house cultural center enamel hall, Chen Xiejun, Zhou Jiahua, Zhang Ruigen, Zhao Kangwei out of infinite love for Dunhuang art, respectively, the use of oil on paper, oil on canvas, solid oil on paper, Chinese painting, with their own good way of painting to interpret the poetic Dunhuang art in their minds, 60 works show their own unique understanding of Dunhuang culture, but also show the charm of traditional culture and the pulse of the times.

Zhao Kangwei, one of the participating painters, said: "Dunhuang is a pearl on the ancient Chinese Silk Road and a treasure of Buddhist culture, which has attracted countless painters to 'bend their waists' throughout the ages. Holding this exhibition is an attempt to make a contemporary embodiment of Dunhuang art. ”

Dunhuang was the main transportation route of the ancient Silk Road and was once the confluence of the world's four major civilizations. Baoku Cultural Center has long been committed to the integration of Eastern and Western cultures and the inheritance of China's excellent traditional culture. As the host and curator of this exhibition, Liu Feiguo, founder and CEO of Baoku Culture, believes that the statues in dunhuang caves are special because their images shine with the light of humanity. The original intention of the establishment of baoku culture is to pass on And continuously develop China's excellent culture and art from generation to generation.

Treasure House Shanghai Center is a "museum built on the clouds", in addition to the enamel hall of the "world's largest cloisonné floor" where the exhibition is being held, there is also the "world's tallest indoor aerial garden" half-acre garden, the treasure house ingenuity, the Shanghai megacity underground center library where art treasures are stored, and the "Treasure House" platform for displaying and trading member artworks.

There is no end to it

After the Forbidden City, Dunhuang has also quickly become another traditional cultural IP. Dunhuang has a long history of more than 2,000 years, and in 111 BC, the Han Dynasty officially established Dunhuang County, and the Book of Han said: "Dun, Daye." Huang, Sheng also. "How to make the cold, abstract history and culture close to more young people, so that traditional culture and modern technology and popular culture, still need a good point of convergence." The core connotation of Dunhuang culture is compassion, wisdom and beauty, and it is hoped that these connotations will be displayed in a scientific and technological way and brought to young people. Wang Xudong, former president of the Dunhuang Research Institute and currently president of the Palace Museum, once said, "Traditional culture is the popular culture of that year, and the current popular culture will also become the traditional culture of the future." ”
