New streaming platform Paramount+ has announced a renewal for season 2 of the crime drama Mayor of Kingstown.

"In The Mayor of Kingston, Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon give nuanced depictions of America's harsh prison system." Tanya Giles, chief content officer for streaming at ViacomCBS, said in a statement: "This first-class creative team, including Jeremy Renner and Dianne Wiest, has produced a thought-provoking series with serious plots. The audience was captivated by the show and longed for more. We are thrilled to be home to the ever-expanding Taylor Sheridan universe, and we look forward to bringing viewers back to Kingston for the next season." ”

"Hawkeye" Renner, whose character in the show is named Mike McLuskey, has been in prison, has a criminal record, and his family is so vocal in Kingston that he was forced to take the family to the center of power after his brother Mitch was killed.

The Mayor of Kingston launched Paramount+ in November 2021 and aired simultaneously on cable station Paramount Network. The show's viewership figures are so impressive that on the Paramount Network, the show set a record for the largest audience for the first episode since "Yellowstone." On Paramount+, the show is the second most clicked original series on the platform, after Yellowstone's prequel 1883.

Meanwhile, Paramount+ renewed season 6 of SEAL Team, which had a total of 10 episodes, though it was not officially announced whether the season would be the final season of the show.
