On the eve of the Spring Festival, Zheng Peihua, the widow of Sun Shengzuo, a revolutionary veteran and deputy teacher of the Foshan Retired Cadres Recuperation Center, obeyed her lover's last wish and solemnly handed over the last party fee in Sun Shengzuo's life to the party organization - 50,000 yuan.

"The old man once said that he grew up under the cultivation and education of the party all this way, which is both glorious and proud. As a veteran party member, although he has left for retirement, he must also find a way to contribute to the cause of the party, and pay this party fee to fulfill his promise. Talking about the reasons why the old chief paid the "special party fee", Zheng Peihua had tears in his eyes and took out a note written by the old chief himself: "Finance: After I die, I will pay 50,000 special party fees with subsidies." The simple and simple words express the infinite loyalty and reverence of an old party member to the party.

Zheng Peihua recalled that since January 2020, Sun Shengzuo has had to be hospitalized due to old age and infirmity. Until March last year, Sun Shengzuo, who was lying in a hospital bed, was deteriorating, and his consciousness was sometimes awake and sometimes blurred. But in the rare moment of consciousness, he wrote this note with his trembling hand, and at the same time instructed himself to hand it over on his behalf. After the old chief's death, she took the entrustment to heart, personally went to the bank to withdraw the heavy cash, handed it to the financial hands of the dry rest house, and fulfilled his last obligation as a Communist Party member for him.

Comrade Sun Shengzuo spent half his life and dedicated his youth and blood to the motherland. Born in 1930, he joined the army in March 1945 and participated in many battles such as the Battle of Yantai Liberation, the Battle of Anhai, the Battle of Tashan Blockade, the Battle of Kanghuaizhang, the Battle of Hengbao, etc., and successively made two second-class merits and two third-class merits, and was awarded the "Medal of Honor for Meritorious Service for Independence", with 74 years of party experience. This veteran of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression on the battlefield has gone through the glory years, witnessed the birth of the People's Republic of China, and participated in the construction and development of New China. The years took away his youth and could not take away his deep affection for the party.

Whether in the revolutionary war years or in his retirement life, Sun Shengzuo always remembered that "a Communist Party member is a banner", "listen to the Party, feel the gratitude of the Party, and follow the Party", and everywhere strictly demands himself by the standards of a Communist Party member, actively exerts his residual heat, and interprets the original mission of Party members with practical actions. This last payment of party fees contains his lifelong sincere feelings for the party, the people, and the cause, and this sentiment is the most sincere, purest, and most far-reaching, which will surely inspire those who come after him to uphold their original intentions, continue to struggle, and make positive contributions to the realization of the dream of a strong country and a strong army.
