In the summer of 1953, in order to protect the Yongding Building in Beijing from being demolished, Lin Huiyin had a face-to-face conflict with Vice Mayor Wu Han, pointing at Wu Han's nose and scolding: "What you have demolished is a real antique with an eight-hundred-year history... In the future, sooner or later you will regret it, and then you will cover it with fake antiques! At that time, Lin Hui was serious due to lung disease, and her voice was hoarse, but in her expression and atmosphere, it was really affectionate.
Beginning in 1952, at the suggestion of Soviet experts, Beijing began to expand the front of Tiananmen Square into a replica of Moscow's Red Square to facilitate future military parades. Lin Huiyin and his wife argued with the main demolition faction, accusing them of destroying cultural relics, and finally crying in silence to no avail. To this day, there are only a few pairs and a half left at the gate of Beijing: one is the city tower and arrow tower of Zhengyang Gate, and half is the Arrow Tower of Deshengmen. The rest of the real antique buildings can only be recalled through old photos.
