In 1969, Tu Youyou had already served as the leader of the antimalarial drug research group of the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, when she was only 39 years old, she had already made a name for herself in the field of traditional Chinese medicine research, which was a photo taken by her hand-carried bag and went deep into the folk to collect and sort out folk medicine prescriptions.
Tu Youyou led the research group, starting from the excavation and collation of ancient pharmacopoeias, went deep into the folk, on the basis of collecting more than 2,000 prescriptions, compiled a collection of 640 kinds of drug-based antimalarial single test formulas, carried out experimental research on more than 200 kinds of traditional Chinese medicines, after nearly ten years and more than 380 research failures, and finally achieved success, developed the antimalarial Chinese medicine "artemisinin", found effective drugs for the world to fight malaria that once took 300 million lives, and saved the lives of millions of people in developing countries around the world.
Years passed, and in the blink of an eye, Tu Youyou's old man was 92 years old.
