In November 2019, the jewelry worth more than 100 million euros in the famous German Green Dome Treasure Museum in Europe disappeared, shocking the world. According to the Dresden Prosecutor's Office, the six suspects, all male German citizens between the ages of 22 and 27, were charged with serious gang theft and arson. However, local prosecutors said the suspects did not provide any information about the whereabouts of the jewelry and that the stolen jewelry remains unaccounted for. At nearly 5 a.m. on November 25, 2019, the gang vandalized a power supply box near the Dresden Green Dome Treasure House, and the surrounding street lights were instantly extinguished. Two people then broke into the treasure house through a closed window, and the scene was all captured by surveillance video. In just a few minutes, they smashed the display case with only an axe and snatched the jewelry. Five minutes after the alarm bell rang, police arrived at the scene, but the thief had fled. Subsequently, the suspect also abandoned the car in an underground garage about 5 kilometers away and burned it.
According to police statistics, a total of 21 pieces of jewelry were stolen, including more than 4,300 diamonds, worth at least 113 million euros (about 800 million yuan). Among the stolen jewels was a 1880s hat clasp decorated with 15 large diamonds, more than 100 small diamonds, and a sword, 96 centimeters long, set with more than 800 diamonds. These are considered priceless.
More than two years have passed since the crime, and some museum experts have analyzed that these jewels may have been dismantled by thieves, melting the precious metal and selling the stolen goods. It is reported that the trial of this case will last at least until At least October this year.
