mourn! Football star Yao Mingfu died of illness and trained a number of women's football internationals

Chengdu Rongcheng Football Club released the news today that at about 1:00 a.m. on January 29, Coach Yao Mingfu, a well-known football predecessor in Sichuan-Chongqing, died of illness at the age of 81.

Yao Mingfu is also the father of former international Yao Xia. Yao Xia once said that he was influenced by his father and began to contact the sport of football very early. "When I was a kid, I couldn't think of any other hobbies besides football." Yao Xia said.

Yao Mingfu played for the Chongqing team and the Sichuan team before his death, and after retiring, he served as the vice chairman of the Sichuan Football Association and the Chongqing Football Association. He is one of the first senior football coaches in mainland China and a pioneer in the women's football career in Sichuan Province. Since 1974, he has been engaged in youth football education, focusing on the discovery of outstanding talents with both ability and political integrity.

From 1983 to 1988, Yao Mingfu participated in the formation and coaching of the first women's football team in Sichuan Province, bringing the team from the ninth place to the third place in the country, and cultivating outstanding players such as Wen Lirong, Lu Xueqin and Xiao Weidong for the national team.

Yao Mingfu has his own unique views on the selection of women's football players. He pointed out that many women's football training ignores the athletic quality training of athletes and pursues technology one-sidedly. He also said that there are many good women's football seedlings in China, but because of institutional reasons, some seedlings with good physical conditions are difficult to select.
