As a glorious symbol of Chinese culture, Dunhuang's spiritual connotation should be spread and what should it be disseminated? How to actively change the context under the condition of "no distortion" and more accurately convey it to the hearts of the social elite. This important topic has always been the proposition of several founders of the World Heritage Development Research Center.
Looking closely at the spread of Chinese culture, the earliest originated in the nobility, and later spread to the people, in traditional scholarship, this path is called the study of wang officials, Confucius is an important founder of this path. China's humanistic spirit, which has lasted for thousands of years, has always been inseparable from the in-depth study of cultural connotations by the elite, and likewise, it is inseparable from creating a context adapted to the general public.
Can we live up to the glorious symbol of civilization in Dunhuang, and in the process of spreading civilization, can we keep pace with the times and take responsibility? Mr. Peng Pan, director of the center, and Mr. Liu Huaiyin, secretary general, have repeated and in-depth discussions, and when the answers become clearer and clearer, the opportunity will naturally come.
After a round of deduction and study with the elites of the cultural, educational and business circles, the time point came to January 22, 2022. On this day, with the support of elite friends from all walks of life, the World Heritage Development Research Center and the Cultural Promotion Department of Dunhuang Research Institute successfully held a "Dunhuang Humanistic Spirit and Aesthetics Transmission Lecture" in Shanghai.
It is worth mentioning that the lecture theme directly embeds two titles that are closely related to Chinese culture.
The first is "Li Ri Tian", and the theme of the activity is taken from the "Zhou Yi" Da You Gua. Fire is in the sky, the sun is fire, and fire symbolizes wisdom in Chinese culture. The spiritual connotation of Dunhuang is obviously tomorrow in the sky, manifested in the world, and always exists in the world.
The second is "passing on the teachings". The word Chuan xi comes from the Analects, and Wang Yangming's famous work of mental science in the Ming Dynasty is called "Chuan Xi Lu". We believe that the humanistic spirit and artistic connotation of Dunhuang need to be explored and sorted out, and it also needs to be passed on by people with hearts to continue the life of Chinese culture.
Different from the general exhibition theme, the organizer invited the teachers of Dunhuang Research Institute Dunhuang Art Company to review the wind and rain of the institute's colleagues. In the lecture, Teacher Guo Xiaodan told the audience and counted the deeds of the former sages represented by several deans of the Institute. Among them, some of them took the initiative to give up the superior conditions in France, some gave up the beautiful future in Beijing and Shanghai, and some were separated from the two places for a long time, from the youthful age of Fanghua to the old age, all the way to the wind and dust, left their hearts in Dunhuang, left their love in the Mogao Grottoes, left the most beautiful years of their lives in the research institute, and left their care for colleagues and colleagues in Dunhuang. These bits and pieces turned into silky heartfelt sentences, which rippled in the hearts of the listeners. The tears that flash in the eyes of many people are the truest testimony.

Teacher Yin Jun, a senior docent, selected two special protected caves in the Mogao Caves, one is the 254 caves excavated during the Northern Wei Dynasty, and the other is the 217 caves that represent the artistic style of the Sheng Tang Dynasty. From the scientific basis of the cave shape system, Mr. Yin talked about the innovative painting techniques of the content of the mural, and then talked about how the painters at that time recreated the real architectural shape through art, thus forming a magnificent Miyagi architectural community. Whether it is from the overall composition layout or the depiction of every detail, it vividly shows the superb artistic standards of the time and sets a model for the creation of Buddhist art in later generations.
