After trial, it was ascertained that: from 1999 to 2020, defendant Dong Hong took advantage of his position as a member of the bankruptcy liquidation team of Guangdong International Trust and Investment Company, deputy secretary general of the Hainan Provincial CPC Committee, deputy secretary general of the Beijing Municipal People's Government, deputy director of the Central Literature Research Office, deputy head of the Central Inspection Group, and other positions, as well as the convenience of the formation of authority and status, to seek benefits for relevant units and individuals in project development, project contracting, job promotion, etc. through the acts of other state staff, The total amount of illegal property received directly or through others amounts to more than RMB463 million.
The Qingdao Municipal Intermediate People's Court held that defendant Dong Hong's conduct constituted the crime of accepting bribes, and that the amount of bribes accepted was particularly huge, the circumstances of the crime were particularly serious, the social impact was particularly bad, and causing particularly heavy losses to the interests of the state and the people, and that the death penalty should be imposed on the basis of the crime. In view of the fact that Dong Hong voluntarily surrendered, truthfully confessed all the crimes, had the circumstances of voluntary surrender, and was able to admit guilt and repentance, actively return the stolen goods, and recover all the stolen money and stolen goods to the case, with multiple statutory and discretionary lenient punishment circumstances, he was sentenced to death and could not be immediately executed. The Tribunal accordingly rendered the above-mentioned judgment.
