The research group led by Academician Dai Yongnian has successfully researched "internal heat multi-stage continuous distillation vacuum furnace" and "horizontal vacuum furnace" and "new vacuum smelting process of lithium" have been applied by more than 40 enterprises at home and abroad (the United States, Britain, Spain, etc.), and have created hundreds of millions of output values.
The "Vacuum Metallurgy Laboratory" founded by him was rated as the "Vacuum Metallurgy National Engineering Laboratory" by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2005, becoming the first national engineering laboratory to rely on the construction of higher education institutions.
In 1977, he presided over the compilation of the first "Tin Metallurgy" textbook in the mainland, which was included in the national excellent scientific and technological bibliography.
With his lead in editing "Vacuum Metallurgy", he was the first systematic monograph on vacuum metallurgy in mainland China, and won the second prize of the National Excellent Science and Technology Book Selected by the General Administration of Press and Publication in 1990.
Dai Yongnian has won 2 second prizes of national technological invention, 2 second prizes of national scientific and technological progress, 1 fourth prize of national invention, outstanding contribution award of science and technology in Yunnan Province, etc., won the national May Day Labor Medal, the title of advanced scientific and technological worker of national colleges and universities, etc., and made outstanding contributions to the development of higher education and mining and metallurgical science and technology in the mainland.
