Luoyang County Ling inspected the disaster situation, passed by Yuan An's house, knew that there was a sage living here, only to see that his home was still snow-sealed the door without any movement - was it not that people were frozen to death? People swept away the snow and entered the hospital to check, only to see Yuan An frozen in bed, not dead, still panting. The county order woke him up and asked what was going on, Yuan An said, when it snows so much, everyone must not have eaten, so I will not go out to trouble people. The county order was indeed a great sage, and was recommended as filial piety!

Yuan An, people may not be familiar with it, but his descendants Yuan Shao and Yuan Shu must be familiar to everyone.

The Yuan Dynasty painter Yan Hui has a "Yuan An Lying Snow Map" that depicts this allusion. In fact, in this painting, the protagonist Yuan An does not appear, we can only see the county order and retinue riding on the ox cart, and a person lying on the chai gate looking into the courtyard.
