Village of the Damned, translated as The Magic Boy Village, is a period-inspired horror film shot by director Wolf Lila and released in the 1960s, when it was still black and white.
The film mainly tells the story of a small town in the United States, a sudden vertigo spreads to a certain extent around the town, so that all the creatures in the town are in a dizzy state at different positions at the same time in the morning, and then this brief vertigo passes, and all the creatures wake up one after another.
Kirsten Eli, a pathologist sent by the U.S. federal government, went to investigate the matter, but found nothing unusual, and everyone thought that the strange vertigo was over, but unexpected strange things followed.
At first, it was all the fertile women in the town who became pregnant on the same day, including virgins.
After that, they gave birth to fetuses at the same time, and the children born had white hair, and as these children grew up, they gradually showed supernatural powers that were different from ordinary people, and had great destructive power, and their eyes could see through people's thoughts and control people's thoughts.

In the end, Christopher ends up with the children by building a wall in his own consciousness to prevent the children from spying on their own thoughts.
In the 1990s, John Carpenter, known as the "Master of Horror", remade the film, which was released in 1995 and translated as "The Cursed Village", compared to "The Village of the Magic Child", the general plot of the film is basically the same as that of "The Village of the Child", but there are some differences, and the biggest difference should be the manifestation of the child's human transformation.
The child setting in Cursed Village was originally a pair of men and women, but a girl who was supposed to be paired with David died of a difficult birth while a pregnant woman was giving birth. Therefore, when other partners are one-on-one pairs, he is left alone, and because of this, he has the experience of human emotions and the loneliness of losing his lover.
At the end of the film, David does not die with Christopher like other friends, his mother comes to save him, he also learns to protect his mother, and finally leaves together.
The transformation of human nature should be regarded as a highlight of the remake of "Cursed Village", but the handling of details is slightly inferior to that of "Magic Boy Village".

Shadow felt that Christopher's wall came a little abruptly in Cursed Village, and although it was described earlier that the children could not spy on him when he thought about the sea, it was a little too blunt to suddenly transform the sea into a wall.
In "Magic Boy Village", christopher has been thinking about what can prevent the child from spying on his own thoughts, and the previous plot also has his slight thoughts on the action of touching the wall, laying a good foreshadowing for him to build a wall behind him to prevent the child from spying on his own thoughts. At this point, I personally think that "Magic Boy Village" has done a better job.
But "Cursed Village" still left me with a lot of childhood shadows, like a scene where the child forced the pathologist to dissect himself, it was really a bit infiltrative, better than many of the horror movie atmosphere that directly created the bloody scene now, listening to the sound of "stinging", you can really feel the pain across the screen.
A sudden vertigo, leading to a sudden pregnancy, is not the arrival of an angel, but the appearance of a magic child. Shadow felt that the setting of this brain hole was much better than many dramas now.
