The principle of matches
Why can a match burn as soon as it is rubbed? Don't worry, speak slowly. The main components of matchheads are oxidants (potassium chlorate), combustibles (antimony trisulfide) and some binders.
Matchsticks are made of soft poplar or pine wood, and the main ingredient on one side of the matchbox is red phosphorus.
When the matchhead rubs quickly on the side of the box, the heat generated ignites the red phosphorus, and the oxidant is directly involved in the oxidation reaction and exothermic, thereby igniting the matchstick.
