On January 23, 1793, the two great powers of Russia and Prussia signed a convention under which the Second Division of the Commonwealth took place.

The bill passed was approved in the Parliament of Grodno. Empress Catherine II of Russia was represented by the politician Mikhail Bratov. Under this diplomatic agreement, the territory of Belarus, as well as some eastern territories of Polysia, as well as the lands of Puertoria and Warren, joined Russia. The territories inhabited by Jews joined the Empire. The question of Jews in Russia is back on the agenda.

It is worth noting that due to the addition of Ukraine on the right bank, there have been some changes in the division of state administrative territories of the Russian Empire. In the new vast land, provinces were organized and the judicial system was expanded. Prussia was given the same land, inhabited mainly by Poles.

A special difference between the country's Second And First Divisions was that only two countries participated in the competition. Last time, Austria also acquired new territory.

The Second Division of the Commonwealth caused an uproar and provoked a rebellion led by Kosciuszko. This event was the reason for the disappearance of Poland and Lithuania as a sovereign state (part III of the Commonwealth).
