Night view of Hong Kong
Hong Kong, a "land of bullets" with an area equal to one-fifth of that of Shanghai, relies on its unique historical origins and geographical location, and is full of merchants and talents. The convergence of multiple cultures is projected into the film, forming a unique and charming Hong Kong film.
Map of Hong Kong
In addition to being a movie lover, I'm also a map controller. When I recently browsed the map of Hong Kong, the place names that seemed to be similar were vivid: Causeway Bay, Portland Street, Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui... Movies that are closely related to these place names come to my mind.
I suddenly thought, how can these place names be not a "geographical map" of Hong Kong movies?
Let's take a look around the map of Hong Kong and look for scenes that have appeared on the big screen or are closely related to movies.
Apart from the scattered islands, Hong Kong is mainly divided into three parts: the New Territories, Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, which are subdivided into 18 districts, including Tuen Mun District, Yuen Long District, Yau Tsim Mong District, Kowloon District, Wong Tai Sin District and Wan Chai District.

The New Territories is the largest part of Hong Kong, with high terrain, undulating hills and an early predominance of agriculture. Lion Rock, which represents the spirit of Hong Kong, is located in the southern New Territories.

"97 Families Have Happy Events", Wu Yongwei, Lantau Island
The outlying islands district is the largest of Hong Kong's 18 districts, and Lantau Island, which is often mentioned in film and television dramas, is located here. In "97 Family Happy Events", the sister-in-law played by Wu Yongwei once remembered "going to Lantau Island to see the sunrise".
Tuen Mun District at the western end of the New Territories. In 1994, two Tuen Mun Sex Demons crashed, and the story happened here.
"Day and Night in Tin Shui Wai"
To the east of Tuen Mun is Yuen Long District, which has a beautiful town called Tin Shui Wai, which has "Day and Night in Tin Shui Wai" and "Night and Fog in Tin Shui Wai" directed by Hui Anhua.
There seems to be no story in North District, Tai Po District, Tsuen Wan District, Kwai Thien District and Sha Tin District.
Shore Set
In the easternmost district of Sai Kung, only one "Fairy Tale of Saigon" is related to it. However, it should be emphasized that Sai Kung was once the cradle of Hong Kong cinema' growth: the Shaw set, known as the "Hollywood of the East", is located in Tai Po Tsai Village, Clear Water Bay, Sai Kung District. From its full construction in the 1960s to the announcement of its discontinuation in 1987, it exported nearly a thousand films and brilliant film talents. After the new century, Shaw Cinemas moved to Tseung Kwan O Industrial Park, and the former film factory gradually became a weedy ruin, but it is still a mecca for many fans to "explore" and nostalgia.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="34" >2, Kowloon</h1>
Kowloon, whose full name is the Kowloon Peninsula, is surrounded by Victoria Harbour on three sides. Kowloon, like Hong Kong Island, which is across the sea, is an integral part of Hong Kong's thriving urban area.
"The Queen of Yuanzhou Street", Wu Jiali
In the Sham Shui Po district in the northwest, there is a "Queen of Yuanzhou Street".
"The Walled Man"
"Provincial Hong Kong Flag Soldier"
Kung Fu
There are too many stories in Kowloon City, the most famous of which is probably the "Kowloon Walled City", which has become history. In 1982, Lan Naicai's "The Man Who Came Out of the Walled City" and in 1984, Ma Dangxiong's "Provincial Hong Kong Flag Soldier" were both filmed in the city wall. Jackie Chan's "Major Crime Unit" in 1993 was the last film to be shot on location here. The "Pig Cage City Wall" built by Stephen Chow in "Kung Fu" is also based on the "Kowloon City Wall".
Kowloon Ice Room, Zheng Yijian
In addition, there are Zheng Yijian's "Kowloon Ice Room" and Ye Dexian's "Kowloon Queen".
Fight the Snake, Diamond Hill
Diamond Hill in wong Tai Sin District is the paradise in the minds of stowaways in "Fighting Snakes", but it is a pity that after many hardships, it is found that it is just a slum. There is also a Ciyun Mountain in Wong Tai Sin District, which gave birth to the "Thirteen Taibao of Ciyun Mountain".
Yau Tsim Mong District is the collective name of Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok. This is one of the liveliest places in Hong Kong, where many movie stories take place.
Movie posters
Mong Kok is very "Mong": "Mong Kok Carmen", "Mong Kok Fit People", "Mong Kok Sky", "Mong Kok Storm", "Mong Kok Big Sister", "Mong Kok Prison", "Mong Kok Night" and so on.
Yau Ma Tei Police Station
From Mong Kok all the way south is Yau Ma Tei. Yau Ma Tei is most famous for the "Yau Ma Tei Police Station", where "Ancient Puzzle Boy" and "Infernal Affairs" were filmed.
God Eater, Temple Street
There is also Temple Street and Portland Street. "Temple Street Story" has "Temple Street Twelve Less", "Temple Street Thirteen Sisters", "Temple Street Queen" Zhang Aijia, "God Eater" Stephen Zhou also made a comeback here. In "Dragon Tiger Ganglan Street", there are "The Big And Little of Ganglan Street" and "The Horse King of Ganglan Street".
Chungking Mansions
"Count the Dead Grass"
Tsim Sha Tsui is at the southernmost tip of Kowloon, near Victoria Harbour. "Chongqing Forest" was filmed at Chungking Mansions at 36-44 Nathan Road. "Bright Moon Shines on Tsim Sha Tsui East", "Tsim Sha Tsui Double Tiger", "Tsim Sha Tsui Owl", visit the statues of Bruce Lee and Mui Yanfang in Tsim Sha Tsui, and you can also go to 9 Nathan Road near Victoria One for a haircut.
"Zhiming and Chunjiao", Yu Wenle, Yang Qianwei, Weiye Tianqiao
In the southeast, there is a pedestrian bridge on Wai Ye Street in Kwun Tong District. Because "Zhiming and Chunjiao" is dating here, it is jokingly called "Zhiming Bridge".
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="35" > Hong Kong Island</h1>
Beyond Victoria Harbour is Hong Kong Island. Hong Kong Island is divided from west to east in the Central and Western Districts, Wan Chai District and East District, and the southern part is naturally the Southern District.
Leslie
"The Moon Embraces the West Ring", "The Story of the West Ring", "The Floating Corpse of the West Ring", from the West Ring All the way to the east, after "Kill the West Camp", pass through Lan Kwai Fong, and meet the "Hero of Central". On April 1, 2003, Mr. Cheung Kwok Wing chose to bid farewell to the world at the Oriental Mandarin Hotel in Central... Miss my brother.
Ancient Puzzle Boy, Causeway Bay
"Full Moon Hennessy", there is also a "Tiger of Wan Chai" on Hennessy Road. Then, it was Chen Haonan's territory "Causeway Bay", where the "Ancient Puzzle Boy" series of movies was filmed.
Golden Sparrow Restaurant
There is a "Golden Sparrow Restaurant" in Causeway Bay that has been in business for more than half a century, and Wong Kar-wai's "Fancy Years" and "2046" have been filmed here. At present, the restaurant has been renamed "Hong Kong Love".
To the south of Causeway Bay is Happy Valley. I have already experienced the bright moons of Tsim Sha Tsui East, West Ring, and Hennessy, and bathed in the Moonlight of Happy Valley.
The Southern District is famous for Stanley Prison and shek O Health Hospital.
Prison Storm, Stanley
The former is famous for Prison Storm, but in fact, such a heavily guarded prison could not have allowed the film crew to enter, so the film was filmed in a military camp near Stanley.
Shek O Health Hospital
The latter is where "The King of Comedy" struggled. Notice that the tree that Cecilia Cheung leaned against, because it grew longer and crooked, had to be supported by steel pipes.
Well, this Hong Kong film journey is over, I don't know if it evokes your fond memories of a movie or a certain picture. If you want to know more about Hong Kong movies and this magical and romantic city, it is best to walk around and see it for yourself, which is also my own wish. Finally, my knowledge is limited, it is inevitable that there will be some omissions, and I welcome all friends to correct them.
