Liu Xiaoying said that the vigorous development of ice and snow sports in Shandong Province is directly related to our province's active response to the national strategy of "expanding from the south to the west and expanding eastward" and the call of "300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports", and the provincial and municipal sports bureau attaches great importance to and vigorously supports the development of ice and snow projects, and includes ice and snow projects in the provincial games.
From a former short track speed skating world champion to becoming a coach, Liu Xiaoying has witnessed the rapid development of ice and snow sports in Shandong and is full of confidence in the future. "At present, the ice and snow sports management department in our province is still a temporary institution, looking at the whole country, and some other provinces that have developed ice and snow sports have set up winter sports management centers." Liu Xiaoying said that the most important thing in ice and snow projects is the site problem, at present, our province lacks provincial professional ice and snow sports venues, taking the provincial short track speed skating team as an example, can only train in the field (province) all year round or train in the enterprise operating venues. "It is difficult for children in Shandong to follow the provincial team to train in other places (provinces) for a long time, nor can they expand the scope of publicity and enrollment." The venues operated by the enterprise can only give the provincial team ice time when there is no customer in the morning and night under the premise of ensuring their own operating income, which affects the normal training and rest time of the athletes, and the ice quality and safety cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, she proposed to build Shandong's first provincial-level professional ice and snow sports venue.
"With high-quality venue facilities, excellent coaching teams, and the addition of provincial winter sports youth competitions, from provinces to cities, it will inevitably attract more teenagers to join the ice and snow sports."
