Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States, Mexico, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Peru and Trinidad and Tobago will represent the Americas in China.

Among the representative teams of the Americas, Haiti will participate in the Winter Olympics for the first time in history, thanks to the qualification of Richardson Viano, who will compete in alpine skiing.

Another country in the American delegation that feels fresh is Jamaica, which will compete in three different events under the snowmobile sub-event at the Winter Olympics.

According to the Spanish "Public" daily website reported on January 22, the Portuguese delegation to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will be composed of three rookie athletes, namely alpine skiers Ricardo Blanca and Vanina de Oliveira, and cross-country skier José Cabesa.

At the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics, which opens on Feb. 4, all of the Portuguese team's athletes are rookies making their olympic debuts.

Ricardo Blanca, 25, hopes to improve his performance in the alpine skiing slalom and slalom events. For him, qualifying is the reward of his own efforts. He said he had "overcome his physical and mental limits many times" and was proud and relieved to represent Portugal at the Winter Olympics. Blanca said his goal in Beijing is to "do his best on the slopes and see a high level of competition."

Vanina de Oliveira, 19, is strong in turning, despite a back strain during her preparations for the Winter Olympics.

José Cabesa, 25, the first man in Portugal's 15km men's cross-country skiing event, was a former triathlete who only started skiing two years ago.

Cabesa said: "My goal is to achieve the best Portuguese results at the Winter Olympics in cross-country skiing. ”
