On October 12, 1937, the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border District High Court sentenced Huang Kegong, the leader of the Sixth Unit of the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, to death.

On October 5, 1937, Huang Kegong shot and killed Liu Qian, a female student of Northern Shaanxi Public School, on the banks of the Yan River for attempted forced marriage, and was reduced from a revolutionary hero to a murderer. After the incident, the CPC Central Committee attached great importance to it. On October 12, 1937, the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region High Court sentenced the death penalty to be carried out immediately.
