Massa Tower:
The development history of the Samet Building can be traced back to more than 100 years ago, it was designed by French merchants Sassoon, Solomon, and Shameรฉ, and became one of the most classic representative buildings in early Shanghai, which used to be a place for residential residences and corporate offices, but later for various reasons, it was broken and closed, so the following building has also become synonymous with many mysteries.
The Samet Building is a typical neo-Renaissance style classical European building, the Details of the Baroque style are clearly visible, and the towers, lintels and other places of the building use Baroque multi-curved carvings.
Just looking at it from the outside of the building is enough to feel the richness of the design details. The Five-Storey Samet Building is in a classical three-section style, with stone column balustrades on the reclining balconies above the second floor and convex balconies on the third and fourth floors decorated with simple and beautiful cast iron railings. The walls between the windows are lined with pilasters and the lateral inlay of the wallpaper.
Even in the past few years of closure and repair, it still exudes a solemn and elegant temperament, attracting passers-by to peek into the interior of the building.

"Avant Renaissance-GARDE RENAISSANCE"
Address: Samet Building, No. 190 Beijing East Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai
From either perspective, coBra GALLERY's inaugural debut exhibition, Avant Renaissance-GARDE RENAISSANCE, is an unconventional exhibition.
The intuitive impression of "non-traditional" first comes from the cruising exhibition experience, there is no linear time of historical traceability, there is no divided space of thematic partition, when I walk freely through the exhibition site, I see classical, modern, contemporary, and even difficult to define the shadows intertwined, especially when this interlacing occurs on the Bund across the century-old Samet building, the boundary between the exhibits and the building also becomes blurred, inevitably producing a magical sense of time and space superposition.
The avant-garde and the classics made a face
If "unconventional" is understood as deconstructivity, then the first deconstruction of the "Avant Renaissance-GARDE RENAISSANCE" occurs at the sensory level. The equal, even somewhat intimate, juxtaposition between avant-garde art and classic design is inherently visually tense.
