I've seen a phrase called "the best is a better enemy." I don't know what everyone thinks of this sentence, but in my opinion, this sentence tells the true meaning of the current social change. Whether from the perspective of big things or small things, there is never the best, but only better, because the best means that there is no room for progress, and better means further progress, and there is also the possibility of progress.
From the perspective of national change, human society has experienced continuous progress from the original primitive society to the current capitalist society and communist society, but it has not reached the best degree. The whole human society is still progressing, still developing in a better direction. Take our own country as an example, since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, we have experienced various social changes, of which the most influential to us is reform and opening up. Since the reform and opening up, China's economy has been developing rapidly, the people's lives are getting better and better, and China's scientific and technological strength is also constantly in a state. It is true that China is certainly not the best country at present, but China is definitely the fastest developing country in the world at present, the fastest changing, and constantly developing towards the "best (relative to other countries)". Because as a Chinese, I believe that my own country and its own people have such faith and strength.
From the perspective of personal development, if we personally feel that we are already in the best and most perfect state, it is certain that we will not learn any new knowledge, and at the same time we will not listen to any opinions of others, and the whole person will become arrogant and difficult to listen to the opinions of others. As the old saying goes, "Three stinky cobblers have raced through Zhuge Liang" and "no one is perfect", only by constantly believing that they will be better will they continue to learn new knowledge and listen to good opinions at the same time. Apple's founder Jobs also said "stay foolish, stay hungry", I personally think Jobs means the same thing, don't believe in perfection, to constantly surpass yourself, and constantly listen to different people's opinions to improve yourself or your products.
Let me give you an example from my side. One of my technically competent colleagues does his job very carefully and conscientiously, but every time we want to output a stable version of a product, this colleague will always shirk saying that there is something that has not been thought out, and that there is something wrong with it. I actually don't object to his attitude towards the problem, but I have doubts, even if that little thing is thought out, that little thing is no problem, can this product be perfect? Will you be able to beat all your competitors? I think it shouldn't be. Everything is evolving, and only by going through the test of the market can you really discover the problems of your own product or technology. Maybe the problem that you feel is bad in the market has no impact at all, or the impact of that problem is not as important as you think. And to set up that little bit of problem for myself, my personal understanding is that I feel that this product is like this, there is no better development in the follow-up, as long as this problem is solved, it will be perfect. But this is precisely wrong, because in reality the perfect thing should not exist. Even if you beat the same kind of competitors, you don't need to improve? Think of nokia, our old-fashioned phone brand.
In fact, the things that modern society can prove most closely related to us and use every day, that is, our Internet products and mobile Internet products. I believe that many people know the iteration speed of Internet products, basically at least one iteration a month, more powerful may be a small iteration a week, a large iteration in January. Why? It is because these companies have found the shortcomings of their own products or the advantages of competitors, and they continue to learn and make progress. Take the mobile phone we use every day to see it, basically every year there will be a big update, whether it is from the underlying hardware (chips, etc.) or from the upper layer of software (photography), etc., each time will be more in line with consumer expectations or requirements. It is precisely because they are not satisfied with their own products and think that their products can be better, so these mobile phone manufacturers will have a steady stream of updates.
I hope that through this sentence, I will encourage you all to meet a better self.
