Portugal Sport was banned from playing in European competition for the next three seasons for violating the Fiscal Fairness Act

On January 26, UEFA's financial control system for clubs has officially decided to impose a penalty of banning Portuguese sports from participating in European competitions for the next three seasons plus a fine of 250,000 euros.

Also penalized were Real Betis in La Liga and another Portuguese Premier League team, Santa Clara. All three clubs have been penalized for failing to comply with the provisions of the UEFA Club Financial Fairness Act. On 3 December 2021, UEFA has announced its penalty decisions against three clubs, although they appealed after the verdict was handed down.

Today, the UEFA club financial control system once again announced that it rejected the appeal of the Portuguese sports team, while the appeals of the other two clubs were partially approved.

The Portuguese sports team will be fined €250,000 for this and will be barred from participating in European competitions (including the Champions League, Europa League and UEFA) for the next three seasons (2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2025), unless the Portuguese sports club proves by 31 January that they have paid the amount due on 15 January 2022 in accordance with a settlement with another club on 26 November 2021.
