The revival of retro is in full swing, with the late 1950s being a regular source of inspiration. Even Vacheron Constantin used this brand new collection – FIFTYSIX – to create vintage cards designed to capture the mood of the fifties and attract a wider customer base. The latest Tudor Black Bay model was reduced in size to 39mm to emulate the brand's first diving watch and equipped with a new internal movement.

Dive into the past
The Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 79030N relives Tudor's rugged diving companions made in the 1950s that are resistant to depths of 200 meters and are known for their angular "snowflake" hour hand, red triangle on the rotating bezel and large windings.
A model called the "Grand Crown" with a reference number of 7924 is the inspiration behind the new Fifty-Eight watch, and many of its features are faithfully recreated from the 39mm diameter case. Black Bay Fifty Eight's black and gold color scheme is another detail that retro enthusiasts will appreciate, taking straight from the 1958 Oyster Prince model. In fact, the hour markers, hands, and minute tracks all have a golden sheen, as do the numbers on the black anodized aluminum bezel.
Tudor Calibre MT5402
After stepping out from under its formidable sibling Rolex, Tudor cemented the independence of its first internal movement in 2015 and today launched its second, smaller movement series. Measuring diameters of 26mm, hours, minutes and seconds are controlled by the powerful power reserve of the new caliber MT5402 and 70 hours.
Equipped with a variable inertia balance fixed by a robust bridge and a non-magnetic silicon hairspring (Tudor can be patented by Rolex), the new movement is COSC certified. The movement has a good surface finish; Skeletonized rotor satin brushes, bridges and motherboards with alternating sandblasted surfaces and laser trims.
Revival riveting bracelet
Like the folding bracelets of the 1950s and 1960s Tudor divers with obvious rivet heads to connect the chain links, the new Black Bay Fifty-Eight features a three-chain stainless steel bracelet, polished and satin brushed finishes, and nostalgic rivets. The watch also comes with a brown leather strap or a cool black fabric strap with a gold ribbon in the center.
The model of the steel bracelet retails for CHF 3,400, while the leather and fabric is priced at CHF 3,100.
