Last weekend, four new films made the top ten at the box office, followed by Katsuyo Ben's hilarious era drama Super Speed! 300 Warriors: Rise of the Empire, the local animated theatrical version of Saint Seiya: Legend of the Sacred Land, and the American action film Three Days Assassination. Among them, "Super High Speed! With the first week of second place, "Attendance Confession" became the best performance in four new films.
While the World Cup is still in full swing, the Japanese film box office market didn't seem to have been much affected at the end of last week. "Frozen" continued to lead the way, mobilizing 273,943 viewers and grossing 364,118,850 yen at the box office in the fifteenth weekend of its release, down 7.3% from the previous weekend, once again entering a relatively stable stage. The film has mobilized 18,691,769 viewers and grossed more than 23.7 billion yen. At present, there are still 2.5 billion yen left before the second-highest-grossing "Titanic" (26.2 billion yen) in the history of the film, and there are still three weeks before the dvd and Blu-ray release date (July 16).
Let's take a look at the specific performance of the four new films in turn. The second-ranked "Super High Speed! It is based on Akihiro Tsuchihashi's johto Award-winning screenplay, directed by Katsuyo Honki, who previously directed the "Giggling Kitaro" series and "Kamogawa Holmo". The story tells that the lord of the Yuchotani domain in the Edo period, played by Sasaki Kuranosuke, had just returned to his hometown when he suddenly received an order to rush to Edo within five days to attend the work. The journey from Yuchoya Domain to Edo usually took eight days, and it turned out that the shogunate had deliberately set up a problem in an attempt to swallow up the wealth within the domain. The lord of the clan had to turn on the super high-speed mode to complete the attendance account, and how did he know that there were traps laid by the old man on the road. This is a hilarious era drama full of whimsical ideas.
The film was released on a medium scale on 251 screens, mobilized 165,280 viewers in its first weekend, and earned 209,028,800 yen at the box office, compared with Shochiku's "The Emperor" (the final box office of 1.2 billion yen), which was released in July last year, and the results of "Super High Speed!" were expected to increase by 10% year-on-year in the same period. The final box office of "Attendance Confession" will reach more than 1.2 billion yen. Japan's Yahoo Movie Channel gave a rating of 3.95 out of 5, and in this excerpt some netizens commented: "I think this movie is not super high-speed, but super recommended." It's hilarious and the actors are great, and while it looks messy, it conveys the important stuff very well. The era drama has a feeling that cannot be taken lightly, and even young audiences will enjoy it when they enjoy this film."
In fifth place, the sequel to 300 Warriors (the final box office of 1.56 billion yen), released eight years ago, "300 Warriors: Rise of the Empire", which was released on a large scale of 533 screens in Japan, mobilized 57,642 viewers in the first two days, and grossed 87.3 million 4100 yen at the box office. The first wednesday, including the premiere date, June 20, grossed 117,244,100 yen, which was only half the same period of the previous game "300 Warriors", and the performance was very unsatisfactory, and it is expected that the final box office will not exceed 1 billion yen. Japan's Yahoo Movie Channel gave a rating of 3.23 points (out of 5 points), which is also quite general, and the only thing that left an impression on some netizens was Eva Green's chest.
The newly ranked sixth on the list, Saint Seiya: Legend of the Sacred Domain, is the theatrical version of the classic anime of the same name, and it has been a full decade since the last theatrical version of the "Celestial Chapter Prologue", and this time the "Sacred Domain Legend" is adapted from the most popular "Sacred Domain Zodiac Chapter" in the original work. The film was released on a small and medium scale on 145 screens, mobilized 55,252 viewers in the first weekend, and earned 82,032,900 yen at the box office, with an audience age group of 20-40 years old, a male-to-female ratio of 6:4, and a large number of men. It is reported that the film will launch different gifts every week for the audience, or it can be used to maintain the box office of the following week at a relatively constant level. However, the reputation of this film is not good, and the Japanese Yahoo Movie Channel has given a rating of 2.91 points (out of 5 points), and many fans have expressed negative expectations.
The last new film on the list is "Three Days of Assassination", which is the eighth-place film, which tells the story of An international agent played by Kevin Costner, whose years of dangerous and violent career have made his relationship with his wife and daughter drift away, and in order to repair the family, he is ready to wash his hands and retire to perform the last task. The film was released on a medium scale on 184 screens, mobilized 33,176 viewers in its first weekend, and grossed 41.2 million yen at the box office, and is expected to end within 300 million yen.
There is also a new film worth mentioning, "Round Table" directed by Xing Dingxun and starring Ashida Aicai, which just screened at the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival held last week and was released on a super small scale on 63 screens in Japan last weekend, achieving the eleventh place.
New films to watch this weekend include Tetsuya Nakajima's new film "Longing", Johnny Depp starring in the action film "Transcendental Hacker", the classic Japanese horror film series "Curse: The Beginning of the End", and so on. (Flowers)
