This is not Xu Chengyi's first time to participate in the Beijing International Film Festival, at the opening ceremony of the Fifth Beijing International Film Festival, when director Xu Chengyi appeared on the red carpet with Bai Baihe, the star of "To Catch a Demon", many people may not be particularly familiar with him, but they brought a lively and pleasing little Huba Meng, unexpectedly, three months later, "To Catch a Demon" set a new high in the mainland box office with more than 2.4 billion, and the name Xu Chengyi also became a household name. "To Catch a Demon" is Xu Chengyi's directorial debut back to China, that is, it has set a new record for the box office of Chinese films.
In the mainland film industry, Xu Chengyi became famous for "To Catch a Demon", but in fact, Xu Chengyi's English name Raman Hui has long been famous in the Hollywood animation industry, and in 1989, Xu Chengyi entered the Pacific Digital Imaging Company (PDI) as an animator. As part of DreamWorks SKG's acquisition of PDI at the time, Mr. Xu officially joined DreamWorks Animation in 2000. Since 1998, he has been involved as an animation director in the production of many of DreamWorks Animation's most successful animated films, including Ant Soldier, Monster Shrek, and Monster Shrek 2. Since 2007, Xu Chengyi has been promoted to director, co-directing "Shrek 3", and then directed the production of several animated specials and short films, including "Shrek's Halloween Game" and "Cat in Boots: The Three Musketeers of Cute Cats".
