Yuzhao Temple: It has a long history, and the story behind it is even more moving
Xizhao Temple is located near Guangqu Gate in Chongwen District, Beijing, there is a street called Xizhao Street, the reason why it is called Xizhao Street, because there is a street called Xizhao Temple, formerly known as Nancheng Great Temple. The specific age of construction is not very clear, but posterity speculates according to the records of relevant data that it should be built in the early years of the Ming Dynasty, here is the branch, sitting north and facing south, mainly composed of five major parts. Entering the mountain gate, you will be greeted by the 5 characters of "Xizhao Temple", and in the main hall, Cai Lun is enshrined on the left, Guan Yu is enshrined on the right, and Wei Da is enshrined on the right.
According to the inscription at that time, Xizhao Temple had been destroyed for various reasons during the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, leaving only a corner of the house, and during the Yongzheng period, a Zen master retreated here and renovated the temple here, but it was not very large-scale. It was not until the Qianlong period that the official appropriation was allocated for reconstruction and expansion of the area, and there was the current Xizhao Temple, which covers an area of more than 0 acres, with a total of 108 rooms, some of which belong to the monks, and some of which are empty.
There is also a legend in the original Yuzhao Temple, because there was once a shadow wall in front of the temple, and when the sun set in the west and the sun shone on the big red shadow wall, the red light flashed, and posterity called this place Yuzhao Temple.
It is known as one of the more famous Eight Scenic Spots of Yanjing in Beijing, called Jintai Xizhao, and you can imagine a beautiful picture from the name. Speaking of the more famous attractions of Xizhao Temple, it is a shocking mural in the Hall of Great Compassion, the left arm is the cursive inscription of King Ankun of Daxing, and the right arm is the ancient pine diagram made by the painter Chen Song, the writing left by these historical masters, whether for future generations, or for the study of history has played a positive role, this is the meaning of historical and cultural precipitation.
There is also a story in the ancient songtu that in another temple in Beijing, there were two well-known literati painting for it, which made the master of Xizhao Temple very envious, and after returning home, he asked Chen Shoushan to make a painting for this temple and let another literati write poetry.
At that time, Chen Shoushan was 80 years old, and it was in the summer, but he did not hesitate to agree, and after drinking three cups in a row, he painted seriously, and in one fell swoop, at this time, it suddenly rained heavily in the sky, there was already water in the courtyard, the rain stopped, and the painting was also painted. The whole painting has the aura of the immortal wind and bones, and the ancient pine figure of Shoushan mountain is immortalized and admired by posterity.
