I often ask myself: When we're trying our best on the baseball field to win a game, what do we want to win?
Is it to win the glory of victory? I don't think so, because there are always wins and losses in the game, and the taste of losing seems to be more difficult to swallow than the joy of winning. Do you want to get applause from the audience? No, because even if there are sometimes only a few spectators, the players will try their best to beat their opponents. In the end, after this season of play in the Sunbird League, I think I finally found the answer: what we want to win is the blood and emotion that belongs to the teenager, the purest and fiercest enthusiasm in the heart of the teenager. This enthusiasm may have become a luxury for most adults, but it has always burned like a raging fire in the hearts of Sunbird teenagers, and they are with them day and night.
The autumn-winter season that lasted more than three months, from the end of summer to the harsh winter, the performance of the teenagers was enough to make us proud, perhaps before coming to this baseball field, they were just good babies in the eyes of their parents, but when they put on this baseball uniform, put on the helmet, and stood in front of the home run with the bat in hand, what was shown to everyone was a determined look, a determination to win, and an attitude of trying to do the best.
At the end of the season finals, many players shed tears of regret, and the cruelty of competitive sports sometimes made us dare not face the results, but was the result really our only pursuit? Teenagers board the "train" of baseball, and there are countless charming "scenery" along the way: passion, mission, sweat, dreams, struggles... There are also pressures, tears, regrets, frustrations, bitterness... as to where the "terminal station" of the train is, does it matter? It is the cruel competitive sports, but the most flesh-and-blood experience and growth of teenagers, even if 99% will fail, but for the 1% chance, they must fight for everything at any cost. As a narrator once said: "Success in life is only temporary, failure is the main theme, but how to face failure, but people are divided into different looks." ”
There are no heroes on the baseball field, because even if there are one or two strong players on a team, there is no guarantee that the whole team will win the game; everyone on the baseball field is a hero, because as long as you stand bravely with the team, you will have the opportunity to show yourself and perform heroically.
Therefore, there is nothing more than baseball that can make ignorant teenagers learn how to take responsibility, how to face setbacks and difficulties, how to wait for opportunities, and how to continue to recognize and sharpen themselves in one failure after another, and finally erupt at a certain moment and be reborn. In baseball, maybe you'll miss 100 swings, or hit the ball out of the game, or catch the ball and miss the ball, or pass the ball wrong, or run the base wrong... But once, you play a strong hit, or make a beautiful pass, or run back to the key score, you will win your own highlight moment, you will believe in your heart that you can do better, you can awaken the "tiger" in your heart, that is, the blood and touch of the teenager. And this blood and touch is the pride of the sunbird teenagers, and will also leave a beautiful mark in their hearts that will never be forgotten.
We're all trying to create and look forward to every highlight moment that belongs to the baseball teenagers, aren't we?
With this documentary film, I would like to pay tribute to the proud Sunbird boy:
