"The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are a stage for the world. As a student of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in the new era, I am eager to show the image of youth vitality and hope to do more science popularization work of Traditional Chinese medicine, so I cherish this opportunity to volunteer. From the confident expression and words of Hu Yuxin, a 2018 student majoring in traditional Chinese medicine at Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I can't see the tension before the "big exam", only the confidence to win.

Talking about the opportunity to become a volunteer for the Winter Olympic Games, Hu Yuxin said that this is inseparable from the volunteer service of some large-scale activities he participated in after he was admitted to Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. "Many people in volunteer service heard that I studied Chinese medicine and often asked me some questions, including prejudices and misunderstandings about Chinese medicine. I always use my expertise to answer their questions, so many people understand Chinese medicine and change their views on Chinese medicine. "These experiences have touched me a lot, and participating in volunteer service is not only a practical application of what I have learned, but also a good channel for spreading TCM culture." So I signed up for the volunteer selection of the competition for the first time, hoping to use my volunteer service to let more people understand the culture of Chinese medicine. ”

The medical assistant of the Beijing Winter Olympic Village (Winter Paralympic Village) Complex is a relatively special position, with a total of 10 volunteers, all selected from Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. "In addition to emergency departments, the Winter Olympic Village Complex implements an appointment system. So, what the medical assistant has to do is answer the appointment call, followed by translation and guidance work. Different from the kind of guidance in the hospital usually, in addition to answering questions for patients, we must also provide reasonable guidance according to the prescribed streamline to reduce cross-contact between patients - from entering the door to entering the doctor's office to leaving the clinic, medical assistants must grasp the patient's entry and exit route throughout the process. Hu Yuxin said. Because of this, the requirements for medical assistants are very high, they must not only pass the selection of the school first, but also must pass the professional assessment of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee. Solid knowledge of Traditional Chinese and Western medicine, excellent spoken English and experience in volunteering for large-scale events are all essential conditions. After being shortlisted, they also have to undergo rigorous training before they can take up their posts.

Hu Yuxin said that there were two things in the training and drill that made a special impression on him: "One day's training arrangement was to learn first aid in the morning, nursing in the afternoon, and learn the professional knowledge of Traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the evening. Another time, during a rehearsal at the general clinic, when I finished putting on the full set of protective clothing, the nurse sister who worked together wrote my name on the protective clothing and cheered me up, and at that moment, I really had a feeling of going to the battlefield. ”

Asked if he was worried and stressed about the epidemic as a medical assistant, Hu Yuxin confidently said: "I have confidence in the country, in the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, in the school and in myself. Beijing University of Chinese Medicine has sent teams to Wuhan, Tianjin, Xi'an and other frontlines of the fight against the epidemic, and my team members and I have also experienced the test of close epidemic prevention and have successfully completed their tasks. We are also qualified for the work of the Winter Olympic Village. Speaking of this, Hu Yuxin also specifically mentioned the school's material security, especially the school specially prepared epidemic prevention soup medicine for volunteers, so that everyone felt warm.

On January 23, Hu Yuxin and his partners will go to the Volunteer Service Post of the Winter Olympics. As the head of 10 medical assistants at the Beijing Winter Olympic Village Complex, he said he would lead by example and have the courage to take responsibility, not only to provide quality services for officials and athletes from all over the world, but also to bring the team back to school safely. "In this volunteer service, I will experience the first time in my life to spend the Spring Festival in a foreign country, the first time I am fully loaded... There will certainly be many challenges and difficulties in this, but I believe that with the joint efforts of everyone, we will be able to complete the task well. We must not forget our original intentions, make good use of this opportunity to face the world, and contribute our own strength to the spread of chinese medicine. Hu Yuxin said.
