He and his lover were waiting for a plane to take him to the hospital for treatment. The whole text revolves around "death" and "imminent death", but the fundamental theme is Harry's journey back to the past, from the past to the present. Reasons for recommendation

"Kilimanjaro is a mountain of nineteen thousand seven hundred and ten feet above sea level, with snow at the top of the mountain all year round. Its western peak is called the Maasai 'Oachi-Uayi', which means temple of God. Near the West Peak, there was the carcass of a leopard that had dried and frozen. Leopards come to such a cold place to look for something, and no one has explained. "The novel begins with a reference: Kilimanjaro's height symbolizes the height of the ideal; the white snow on the top of the mountain symbolizes the ideal of divine purity; the leopard may be Harry." What exactly are leopards looking for when they go here?" Why did you die there? The beginning of the story opens up space for the reader to think.

Harry is an idealistic and talented writer who has always wanted to create good works. But with the increase of age, he gradually became greedy and comfortable, even not thinking of making progress, indulging in fun, drinking heavily, and relying on women to survive... As a young man, his ambitions failed to the material pleasures of money, he became arrogant, depraved, lazy, and his motivation to write deteriorated. He wanted to go to Africa in search of hope and courage, eager to start over, to find what he had lost.

In the text, the picture switches back and forth between reality and dream, and the events Harry encounters in reality contain subtle expressions. If gangrene is formed after the necrosis of the tissue due to the influence of secondary rotten bacteria and other factors, the "gangrene" in the text can be seen as a manifestation of Harry's physical and inner corruption and depravity; "vultures" and "hyenas" are warnings of death. In his memories, he remembered the stories he had to write when he was young, the army, the train station, his lovers, the neighborhoods where he lived, Paris, and so on. The text reveals his attitude toward the world, arguing that "life is swallowed up by money, and love becomes a pile of dung." On Mount Kilimanjaro, with the fear of death and the desire to survive, he found that he was blinded by materialism, and he wanted the life he longed for.
