Recently, on the basis of the recommendation and reporting of various localities, the Sichuan Provincial Small Town Construction Leading Group Office organized relevant departments and expert reviews, and after on-site review, 41 towns such as Tangchang Town, Pidu District, Chengdu City were identified as the second batch of provincial-level characteristic small towns.

Sichuan provincial characteristic towns started to apply for selection in March 2017, and 42 towns, including Sandaoyan Town, Pidu District, Chengdu City, and Jinshan Town, Luojiang County, Deyang City, were selected as the first batch of provincial characteristic towns in Sichuan.
In addition to meeting the requirements of the national cultivation of characteristic towns that should have distinctive industrial forms, harmonious and beautiful livable environments, traditional culture highlighting characteristics, convenient and perfect facilities and services, and vibrant institutional mechanisms, Sichuan emphasizes that it must have certain characteristics and advantages in the two aspects of livable environment and industrial form.

Last year, Sarian Town was selected into the "Sichuan Province"13th Five-Year Plan Characteristic Small Town Development Plan" to build a modern agricultural characteristic small town. In the same year, the town was also listed as a municipal characteristic town for key construction.

West End Griffin Town
Griping Town is the only township in the West District of Panzhihua City, located on the north bank of the Jinsha River, bordering Huaping County in Yunnan Province, 24.8 kilometers away from the city. Griping Town is a national key town and a pilot town of "Hundred Towns Construction Action" in Sichuan Province.
