According to South Korean media reports, Lee Tae-won was urgently sent to the hospital for treatment because of cerebral hemorrhage and dizziness in July last year, but the treatment was not good for more than 1 year, and he died in the hospital this afternoon at the age of 83, and his wife, 3 men and 1 woman will hold a funeral for him.

Lee Tae-won produced a total of 36 works before his death, mainly in cooperation with the famous director Lim Kwon-taek, known as the "Godfather of South Korean Cinema", such as the 1989 film "Unveiling, Revealing, Brahmin Revealing" won the post-film award at the Moscow Film Festival. He was also the driving force behind The WestErman, the 1993 film "Seoppoy", which was the first film in South Korean film history to exceed one million viewers in Seoul.

In addition, in 1993, his production of "Huayan Jing" won the Silver Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival; his collaboration with Lim Kwon Taek on "The Legend of Chun Heung" became the first Korean feature film to be shortlisted for the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival, and of course, "Drunken Painting Fairy", which won the Best Director Award at the 55th Cannes Film Festival, was also in cooperation with Lee Tae-won.
