Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio is the largest fine art film producer in China and one of the oldest animation studios in China, with animation, puppet, paper cutting, origami base, located in Shanghai. Covering an area of 10,611 square meters, it has animation, paper-cutting, administrative work buildings and puppet studios, and is the main base for the production of fine art films in China. Formerly a cartoon stock of Northeast Film Studio, the art film group was established in 1949 and moved to Shanghai the following year to belong to shanghai film studio.
In April 1957, the factory was officially established, with three production departments: animation, puppetry and paper cutting. It has two subsidiaries: Shanghai Yilimei Animation Co., Ltd., a Sino-foreign joint venture, and Shanghai Fine Arts Film Drawing Factory, a collective-owned enterprise. The production capacity is 14 to 15 units per year. The animation films "Proud General" and the puppet film "Shen pen" created in the stage of the art film group have gained experience in exploring the national style, and a total of 428 art films have been produced after the establishment of the factory, accounting for more than 80% of the national art film output. Gradually formed the style of Chinese art films. It has strong strength in film and television animation creation, production and derivative product research and development.
