Is there room for photography and fine art in NFT scenes? Interview with Norwegian artist Linda Christiansen

For the above questions, Metaverse News's reply is yes! In addition to the basic animation of monkeys and cats, higher art also has the same space and perhaps more potential, but the question is whether the time has come. Personally, I believe that the current NFT boom will fade, because when you look at the current NFT "art", I believe that 98% of it will make basic visual arts students feel uncomfortable. I believe there will be a bear market, and then a bigger player will get involved, and in the future we will see more artists, photographers in this market. Today we are fortunate to be able to speak with talented Norwegian artist Linda Christiansen in Metavalse News.

You've been creating concept images since 2014, but how long have you been in the NFT world and what got you involved?

I entered the NFT space in March 2021. At that time I had been browsing an article on the subject, and when I finally decided to open it to understand its contents, I found that I knew nothing about it... But it didn't really leave my mind. Soon after, I decided to give in some time and learn as much as I could. I think it took me about 2 weeks to do the research before I decided to go into the NFT space and try it out.

Was it NTF that opened your eyes to cryptocurrencies, or did you already know about cryptocurrencies before?

I used to know very little about cryptocurrencies. When I wanted to learn about NFTs, I first learned about cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. I think it's important that the concept is so huge that I at least have a basic understanding of how it works.

How do you feel as a woman in this male-dominated crypto world?

I feel fortunate to be part of the women's community very early on my NFT journey. We support and help each other and connect almost every day through chat and Discord. If it weren't for these female partners, I don't think I would have held out for so long.

There is no doubt that this is a male-dominated space, and statistics show that female artists account for only a small percentage of sales, about 5% or so. It's not much different from what I think of the traditional art world, and it's frustrating. However, I believe women may have more opportunities to succeed here and move forward. Hopefully, we can overcome this huge imbalance. In 2021, this imbalance is incredible in itself.

What sets you apart from other NFT photography artists?

This is a difficult question to answer. Because we are all different, have different stories and carry different values.

What I can say is that since entering NFT, I have sold my limited edition paintings as before, presented them in the traditional art world and continued to build my influence.

As much as I'm currently following NFTs, they're an extra opportunity for me and I don't consider myself an "NFT artist." I'm an artist, but I'm also offering my work in the NFT world.

I believe this translates into staying power, and the value of my NFTs will only continue to grow over time alongside my IRL career.

As for my art itself, I would say it's all very personal to me. Most of my work is also composited and/or mixed with digital painting. I'm very fond of symbolism and like to combine images that translate the actual elements of my surroundings. Both intent and authenticity are very important to me. I think my art is my personal imprint, and since I decided to put it in my work, it has to feel right.

We thank Linda for her time and wish her all the best.
