In 2001, the Chongqing Municipal People's Court and the Changde Municipal People's Court simultaneously pronounced public verdicts on the extraordinarily large series of robbery and murder cases of Zhang Jun's gang, sentencing 14 people, including Zhang Jun, Qin Zhibi, Quan Hongyan, Yan Min, Mo Jinying, Na Bo, Zhu Jiawu, Wang Jun, and Li Zejun, to death in the first instance, and 2 people to suspended death and 2 to life imprisonment.
This included three of Zhang Jun's five mistresses, namely Qin Zhibi, Quan Hongyan, and Yan Min; while Zhang Jun's other mistress, Yang Mingyan, was first sentenced to suspended death, then to life imprisonment, and finally to fifteen years' imprisonment; the lightest of Zhang Jun's mistresses was Chen Le, the youngest, who was sentenced to nine years in prison and then four years for good performance.

Chen Le was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2001 for harboring, the lightest of the five mistresses, and was released in 2006.
Chen Le, a native of Hunan, was Chinese, lost his father at an early age, and his mother worked as a farmer. Due to poor family conditions, she dropped out of school at the age of 16, went to Guangxi and Guangdong to work alone at the age of 17, and returned to her hometown in 1998, tired of the wandering life, and "sat on the stage" in the dance hall. In the second half of 1999, because Zhang Jun took a fancy to her posture, the two lived together.
In the days when Zhang Jun's criminal gang was arrested, the home of Zhang Jun's mistress Chen Le was a nest of hoarding crimes.

To sum up, among Zhang Jun's five mistresses, the reason why Yang Mingyan and Chen Le were not sentenced to death was mainly because Zhang Jun treated these two mistresses more or less sincerely; he knew that he was doing evil deeds and did not want Yang Mingyan and Chen Le to be involved in them.
In fact, strictly speaking, Chen Le is really unaware, and Yang Mingyan is an insider, and it is entirely possible to sentence to death, but the court considered that Yang Mingyan also has a one-year-old daughter, which is why the court gave grace and sentenced the death sentence to a suspended death sentence, and finally changed the sentence to fifteen years in prison.
