According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanic Seismology, at 10:26 local time on January 22, a 6.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in the sea 234 kilometers southeast of Sarangani City, West Davao Province, in the southern Philippines, with a focal depth of 66 kilometers. Aftershocks are expected in the area.
