China.com, January 21 (Reporter Li Zhi) From January 19 to 21, the third Hong Kong China-US Forum, jointly organized by the China Center for International Economic Exchanges and the Hong Kong China-US Exchange Foundation, was held by video. The theme of the forum is "Beyond Differences and Focus on Cooperation".

On November 16, 2021, the heads of state of China and the United States held a video conference to exchange views on some strategic, overall and fundamental issues in the development of China-US relations, and conducted full communication and exchanges. President Xi Jinping summed up the experience and lessons of the development of China-US relations and proposed that China and the United States should adhere to the three-point principle of getting along in the new era - mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.

Zeng Peiyan, chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, pointed out at the forum that in the 21 st century, some hegemonic acts of the US side should have entered the "garbage heap of history" long ago. He believes that the three-point principle proposed by President Xi Jinping points out the direction for the healthy and stable development of Sino-US relations and lays the foundation for ensuring that the two giant ships of China and the United States do not yaw, stall or collide. "A prosperous and stable China brings not a threat to the world, but an opportunity."

Zeng Peiyan pointed out that mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation are not only principles that China and the United States should adhere to in getting along, but also have important reference significance for all countries in the world to get along. As two major countries, China and the United States should have the responsibility to set an example, and he believes that as long as these three principles are upheld and practiced, they can promote and improve Sino-US relations along the right trajectory and better benefit the people of the two countries and even the world.

Zeng Peiyan said that at present, the century-old changes and the century epidemic are intertwined. In this context, achieving economic recovery is very difficult and tortuous, the pressure of inflation and financial risks has increased, and the recurrence of the epidemic has also exacerbated the uncertainty of the world economy. Sino-US relations are the most important bilateral relations in the world at present, and correct Sino-US relations are very important to the two countries and are also the expectations of all countries in the world.

Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said that open dialogue is the basic condition for rebuilding trust between China and the United States, and at the same time, it also responds to global challenges to human development such as the epidemic and climate change in this way

Former Prime Minister of Singapore, Former Prime Minister of Singapore, Wu Zuodong, said that the competition between China and the United States should be benign, and cooperation should be strengthened to the greatest extent in promoting free trade, responding to climate change, preventing and controlling the spread of the epidemic, and combating extremism.
