Beijing, 22 Jan (Xinhua) -- At 16:00 local time on 20 January, the Sino-Iranian-Russian trilateral maritime joint exercise came to an end. The Chinese Navy's Urumqi and Taihu warships sailed out of the Waters of Chakhbahar, Iran, and continued their follow-up missions. The joint exercise deepened exchanges and cooperation between the navies of China, Iran and Russia, and demonstrated the good will and ability of the three sides to jointly safeguard world peace and maritime security and actively build a "community with a shared future for the sea".

The China-Iran-Russia Maritime Joint Exercise was held from January 18 to 20 in the waters of the Gulf of Oman. The Chinese side's troops participating in the exercise include the guided-missile destroyer Urumqi and the comprehensive supply ship Taihu, while the Iranian side dispatched 10 ships of various types, including the frigate "Dana," the "Nahdi, and the "Shahid Nazeri" catamaran; the Russian side participated in the exercise with missile cruisers "Varyag," the large anti-submarine ship "Admiral Tributz," and the oil tanker "Boris Butoma." The three sides also sent helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, special operations detachments, and diving detachments to participate in the exercise. This is the second cooperation between China, Iran and Russia after the first joint maritime exercise in 2019.

During the three-day joint exercise, the navies of the three countries conducted successive exercises on the topic of joint maintenance of shipping and maritime economic activities in fleet formations, such as formation movements, light signal communications, and night ferry crossings. On the afternoon of the 20th, the maritime parade was held, and the officers and men of the Chinese and Iranian navies lined up on the deck and waved goodbye, and then the navies of the three countries held a separation ceremony.
