U.S. Congressmen Massey and Griharva test positive for COVID-19
Washington, January 20 (China News Service) -- US Congressmen Thomas Massie and Raul Grijalva issued a statement on the 20th local time saying that their new crown test results were positive.
Rep. Marcy, a Republican from Kentucky, posted on social media that day that his cold and allergy symptoms lasted for a day and basically recovered. He will not be in public this week. Marcy also said he contracted the coronavirus two years ago and has not been vaccinated against COVID-19 and has not received a booster.
Massey has been critical of White House chief medical adviser Fauci and opposes Congress's mandatory requirement to wear masks and vaccinate. In July, Massi and two other Republican lawmakers took House Speaker Pelosi to court after being fined for refusing to wear masks. Massy said the fine for not wearing a mask was unconstitutional.
Another Democratic rep. Gri halva from Arizona also issued a statement on the same day that it tested positive for covid-19. Grikhalva said he had received covid-19 vaccinations and booster injections and was currently "mild in symptoms and in good spirits" at the moment. He said he would follow the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance for testing and isolation and informed close contacts.
With the rapid spread of the Omiljun strain in the United States, several members of Congress have recently tested positive for COVID-19. Congressional doctors said earlier this month that the current COVID-19 positivity rate in congressional work areas has exceeded 13 percent.
The CDC has said several times in recent days that more people who have completed the vaccine and enhanced vaccination will be infected with the new crown virus due to the spread of the Omiljun strain, but these people usually do not develop serious symptoms.
According to CDC statistics, there were 768,000 new confirmed cases of new coronavirus in the United States on the 19th, with an average daily number of new cases exceeding 740,000 in the past 7 days; the number of deaths in a single day on the 19th reached 2,542, and the average daily death toll in the past 7 days exceeded 1,700.
