According to the US "Star-Spangled Banner" reported on January 20, an infantryman and a biomedical equipment expert of the US Army will participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics next month as a member of the U.S. Bobsled team.
The two U.S. Army personnel are Frank Del Duca, 30, a professional sergeant from Bethel, Maine, and Hakeem Abdul-Saboor, a 34-year-old professional sergeant from Powatan, Virginia. They were selected this week as one of 12 athletes from the U.S. Snow Team.
The U.S. Snow Team said in a statement that U.S. Army infantry del Duca will participate in the Winter Olympics for the first time as a driver, and Abdul-Sabour will participate in the Winter Olympics for the second time, and he will be a push athlete.
Both Del Duca and Abdel-Sabour are members of the U.S. Army's World Class Athlete Program. The program supports U.S. soldiers to participate in Olympic team selection.
