(Fight against new crown pneumonia) Hong Kong Yi Kwai Lou enclosure for 5 days 2,700 residents are required to be tested daily

Hong Kong, January 21 (China News Service) -- The outbreak of the epidemic in Kwai Chung Estate, Kwai Wing, Hong Kong, has seen about 20 cases of new crown in succession. The Secretary for Food and Health of the HKSAR Government, Mr Chan Siu-chiu, announced on the 21st that a five-day containment testing operation was launched on Kwai Chung Estate' Yip Kwai Lou, and about 2,700 residents were required to undergo daily testing. It was The longest lockdown in Hong Kong since last year's containment measures were imposed.

According to figures reported by the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health of the HKSAR Government, there have been about 20 positive and initial positive cases involving Yi Kui Lou so far, including residents, visitors and staff of the building, involving 13 units on 12 floors, which involve about 9 different sitting directions.

Chan pointed out that the group is involved in super-transmission and has a very high risk, and it is necessary for the HKSAR Government to take decisive measures to avoid the further spread of the virus. She announced that the HKSAR Government issued a notice of restriction and testing on Yi Kui Lou from 6 p.m. on 21 January for a period of 5 days until the morning of 26 January, during which time residents of the building must remain in Yi Kwai Lou and undergo daily testing as instructed.

Chan said the HKSAR Government would set up temporary sampling stations and provide door-to-door sampling services for people with reduced mobility or the elderly. The HKSAR Government will also provide meals and epidemic prevention materials to the affected residents to ensure that they receive support.

Chen Zhaoshi stressed that the relevant actions are aimed at cutting off the invisible transmission chain of the community as soon as possible, which plays a key role in the overall epidemic prevention and anti-epidemic work. The HKSAR Government will also continue to closely monitor the development of the epidemic and consider whether other actions will be taken against Kwai Chung Estate in the future.

At the press conference, Xu Lejian, director of the Center for Health Protection, introduced the source of infection in the Yi Kui Lou group. Earlier, a 43-year-old woman arrived in Hong Kong from Pakistan and was diagnosed after completing mandatory quarantine at the hotel, as was her husband. The male patient went to the Yi Kui Lou collection station on January 13 to collect supplies, during which he had contact with a female cleaner who suspected that the virus would infect her, and the female cleaner was initially diagnosed on the 21st.

Xu Lejian said the female cleaner cleans and disposes of garbage on different floors of the building every day, and it is not excluded that her contact with residents on different floors during her work has led to transmission. After the on-site inspection, various departments and experts of the HKSAR Government believe that the building does not have any structural problems, air flow or throat problems, and believe that the transmission route is through a super spreader traveling on different floors to infect residents.

In the evening of the same day, police officers pulled up a blockade line outside the Yi Kui Building, allowing only residents to enter the restricted area, a number of personnel wearing protective clothing were present to prepare for the testing work, and another staff member carried supplies into the restricted area. Many residents carry takeaway and supermarket shopping bags home, and some push supermarket shopping carts home, which contain cooking oil, bread and cup noodles. (End)
