I became interested in the city of Verona because of a movie I saw a few years ago called Letters to Juliet, starring Amanda Seyfried, an actress I like very much, and the interlude included the once-popular Love Story. That movie is very good, with a lighthearted and touching love story, beautiful women and handsome men, blue skies and white clouds, unique Italian scenery, and charming Italian songs. That Quando, quando, quando is still in my repertoire today.
At that time, I thought that if I went to Italy, I must come to Verona, the city of love, to see.
The itinerary in Verona was a time to change tastes throughout our trip to Italy. Because in Rome and Florence, we were hit by historical monuments and works of art that we had never had before, and although they were excellent works, they did cause aesthetic fatigue.
But in Verona we only have to touch the daily Italian. We stayed in a small sloping street by the river, the door was not big, the hostess greeted us very warmly, the room was small and well-equipped, and like everything else, there was very tasty coffee.
We went to visit the place known as Juliet's House and saw the famous balcony and the bronze statue of Juliet. On one of the walls in front of the door, people are full of commemorative words and pictures, and we have left the same mark of visiting here. At Juliet's tomb, we unexpectedly saw the sculptures of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai donated by the sister city of Suzhou. It felt strange, unexpected, and kind. Suddenly, it seemed to be closer to the city.
Not far from Verona, there is a beautiful lake called Gardahu, and on the shore of Lake Garda lies the Garda Amusement Park, which was once the world's largest amusement park. But now I am afraid that it can only dominate in Italy. Amusement park tickets are divided into day and night shows, in order to make the most of the time and avoid the sun during the day, we chose the night show. We took the train from Verona to the Greater Amusement Park, and the journey did not take long. The family had a great time at the amusement park, although it was an old playground, but many of the projects were still very classic, its tornado roller coaster was really thrilling, my son and husband did not sit, only I ventured to try. The glasses were almost thrown away, but fortunately I had one hand on the side and caught it in time. It was the happiest day for my son on his whole trip to Italy, because he was so tired of the monuments we visited. Here we also feel the special treatment as foreigners, probably because very few Asians come to this playground, and tourists in the park often cast curious eyes. I can probably see how foreigners feel when they are in China.
Verona is a very nice place if travelling as a family. Because not only is it called the City of Love, which bears witness to the love between Romeo and Juliet, but also the beautiful scenery and the place where children play, it is really a great choice for a family to travel.
