"Golden 4 minutes", and a double-click to save a life

At 7:47 a.m. on August 25, a heart-wrenching scene suddenly occurred in front of the ticket window of Shuozhou Railway Station in Shanxi Province. A male passenger suddenly suffered a heart attack when he was about to leave after buying a ticket at the window, lost consciousness, and fell to the ground.

Feng Li, a passenger attendant who was not far away, and Wang Donghai, a passenger transport attendant, arrived immediately when they heard the news. I saw that the man was trembling, his face was pale, his pupils were dilated, and the situation was very critical. The two immediately launched first aid to the man and arranged for colleagues to call the 120 emergency number at the first time.

"When we came over, the colleague took a bottle of quick-acting heart-saving pills and fed it to the passenger, at this time he already had difficulty breathing and loss of consciousness, which is a typical cardiac arrest symptom, I quickly went up and pressed it." Wang Donghai recalled.

Time is of the essence! Wang Donghai kept calling out while pressing the man's chest. After less than 1 minute, the man gradually had a heartbeat and pulse, and his consciousness gradually recovered.

Afterwards, the men were taken to the waiting room to rest, and the cleaners brought hot water. After drinking water, the man's condition improved. An ambulance then arrived and the man was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

For the first aid of sudden cardiac death, the "golden four minutes" is crucial. Because at normal room temperature, after 4 minutes of cardiac arrest, there will be irreversible damage to brain cells; more than 10 minutes, even if the patient is rescued, the chance of brain death is very high.

The staff of Shuozhou Railway Station seized this precious 4 minutes and took timely and correct rescue measures to avoid the tragedy.

Kudos to the staff!
