Stills from the classic Broadway musical "Chicago"
Guangzhou Daily News (All-media reporter Ge Yufei correspondent Chen Yun photography report) Last night, the Magnolia Grand Theater was full of popularity, and the classic Broadway musical "Chicago" completed its first performance in Dongguan. In the next few days, "Chicago" will also be performed in Dongguan. According to the performance schedule, from October 10 to 14, there will be seven consecutive performances at the Magnolia Grand Theatre.
In 2004, "Chicago" came to Beijing and performed for the first time in the Great Hall of the People. There were only 3 performances and no tour, which made the audience fans everywhere look forward to it. After 14 years, this hallowed Broadway musical came to Dongguan.
"Chicago" uses international-class dancers, singers and jazz bands to present a spectacular performance for the audience. At the scene, a jazz band composed of 12 musicians was set up on the stage in a stepped manner, like a jury, which perfectly matched the stage set. Chicago insists on using live bands to ensure the vividness, randomness and authenticity of the performances, and the musicians play superbly, cooperate with the actors, and cooperate seamlessly with the performances, using jazz to make people feel like they are in the city of Chicago in the 1920s.
The use of jazz is the highlight of Chicago, where the rhythm of the music jumps and the melody is lively, contrary to the tendency of the Broadway musical to be operable. The most famous passage in the play, "All That Jazz", "Jazz Spring and Autumn", is a classic passage that all jazz fans can't miss, and the performance of the actors wearing top hats and short skirts is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, recreating the mess under the paper drunk fans and flashy appearances of the 1920s in the United States.
