The Spring Festival is approaching, and wanderers are packing their bags and going home for the New Year. Recently, Liao Xu Village, Sheyang Lake Town, Baoying County, welcomed back a special group of "returnees", which are the Oriental White Stork, a national first-class protected animal.
The villagers of Liao Xu Village first discovered the Oriental White Stork in April 2020, and under the joint protection of the relevant departments of the town and the villagers, the Oriental White Stork "couple" successfully hatched 3 chicks in Liao Xu Village. In March of the following year, when the spring flowers bloomed, the chicks from Liao Xu Village grew up a little, and after wintering from the south, they flew back to the "hometown" of Liao Xu Village, where they hatched several more chicks.
The second generation of "storks" nested in Liao Xu Village, and the villagers have regarded them as "family" and "honorary villagers". Chen Xuehe, a villager in Liao Xu Village, said that a month ago, the Oriental White Storks returned, and there were seven or eight at most. These oriental white storks sometimes soar in the sky, sometimes rest on high-voltage poles, sometimes forage in the fields, and do not fly away at all, they should want to celebrate the New Year here, which is the first batch of "returnees" in the village.
The oriental white stork has high requirements and dependence on wintering land, and the same site has appeared for many years, indicating that the ecological conditions of Sheyang Lake meet their requirements. It is understood that Sheyang Lake Town is rich in natural resources and has a superior ecological environment, and is a national ecological town, a national aquatic germplasm resources conservation area, and a provincial-level important wetland.
