Manila, 20 Jan (China News Service) -- On the 20th, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines held the 2021 "Friends of the Embassy" series of awards ceremony online to commend representatives of friendly people from all walks of life who vigorously support the work of the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in the Philippines and are committed to Sino-Philippine friendship. About 200 people, including Huang Xilian, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, award-winning guests and overseas Chinese leaders of the Philippine Chinese Society, attended the event.

Huang Xilian presented awards to 53 winners and group representatives, including Jaime Cruz, Special Envoy for China Affairs of the Philippine President, Bernardito Bernie Ang, Secretary General of the Manila Municipal Government, Lin Yuqing, Chairman of the Philippine-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Yang Huahong, Chairman of the Philippine-Chinese Federation of All Walks of Life, and Hong Hexiang, President of the Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

Huang Xilian said in his speech that in the past 2021, China and the Philippines have taken the fight against the epidemic and economic recovery as the main line, deepened mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and worked together to build a closer partnership in the new era, jointly composing a touching chapter of perseverance and overcoming difficulties together. This year, the Embassy upgraded the series of awards of "Friends of Overseas Chinese" to "Friends of Embassies" and set up a new "Chinese Society Anti-epidemic" special award, aiming to promote benevolence, righteousness and love in a wider range and further spread positive energy.
Huang Xilian highly affirmed the major contributions made by the Philippine-Chinese Anti-epidemic Committee in the implementation of the "Spring Seedling Action" and many other anti-epidemic work, and expressed his appreciation and gratitude to many Filipino-Chinese associations and institutions for their righteous deeds of actively treating compatriots and distributing anti-epidemic drugs and materials free of charge.
A number of award-winning representatives said that they will continue to cooperate with the embassy to safeguard the well-being and safety of compatriots in the Philippines and help the healthy and stable development of friendly relations between China and the Philippines. (End)
