SCHOTT announces the thinnest AR module wafer: the RealView 1.9 ultra

On January 20, Qingting Network reported that optical glass company SCHOTT announced the launch of the lightest and thinnest AR module wafer: RealView 1.9 ultra, which is a glass wafer dedicated to AR equipment, with a refractive index of 1.9, which can effectively reduce the overall weight.

Schott will be | in 2022 SPIE AR VR| Presentations at MR events.

Qingting network learned that RealView 1.9 ultra is based on the refractive index of 1.9 light optical glass substrate, the processing technology has been further improved, to achieve 60% wafer flatness improvement, the advantage is to reduce the thickness of the AR glasses optical module, reduce 30% weight, for each AR glasses to reduce weight by about 15g, and then conducive to the realization of the whole machine 70g level of AR glasses.

In summary, the RealView 1.9 ultra has the following features:

  • 1,1.9 High refractive index;
  • 2, 50% lower weight than traditional optical waveguide;
  • 3, for the AR glasses machine to reduce the weight of 15g, reduce the weight of the whole machine by 30%, is conducive to creating AR glasses within 70g;
  • 4, make the AR glasses optical module thinner.
