Michelle, the founder of Shanghai Xinjinjie Art Space, is the daughter of Mr. Xu Jinping, a well-known contemporary flower and bird painter. After graduating from Goldsmiths College, University of London, she worked in branding and public relations at the London headquarters of WPP Group, the world's largest communications group. After working for nearly six years, Michelle decided to continue and develop her family's art business, creating a new art space in Shanghai.
Harper's BAZAAR ART has an exclusive interview with new founder Michelle to discuss his personal experience, gallery philosophy, inaugural auctions and the development of the art industry.

Regarding the opportunity for the new venture, Michelle said: "From birth, I planted a seed in my heart that wanted to pursue an art-related industry, and the influence of my family on me is certain. At the same time, I observed a trend of social change, and art is a new cause for which to strive. As a result, Michelle added commercial innovation elements to the existing art resources in the north, disseminated Chinese contemporary ink art, and actively promoted potential contemporary artists and public art projects, connecting art with commercial market resources.

The new industry not only attaches importance to the combination of art and business, but also enthusiastic about public welfare, and launched the "Art Story China Charity Action" in 2017, which has held ten consecutive activities in the past three years to raise funds to help children in poor areas seek medical treatment and study. Michelle believes: "Art itself is a kind of social public wealth, which should benefit more people. With years of charity auction experience and a wide range of collectors, the new company has successfully collected more than 200 rich and exquisite lots in three months, and will hold the first art auction in Shanghai on the occasion of the New Year.
How such a new initiative can be advanced in the dilemma, Michelle said: "First, we have been working on the online platform for a year and a half before the epidemic. As a content IP, we use the online platform to continuously do content output and accumulate a large number of fans. ”
